A Window Between

A Year in the Life of Opal Whtiely, Age 6

Price range: $9.99 through $24.95

Opal Irene Whiteley entered our world on or about December 11,1897. She was real, though reality as she experienced it was otherworldly. Where she came from remains a mystery. She grew up in a time and a place that did not welcome her. She was different from all the other children in Walden, Oregon.

None but a few could understand the remarkable little girl who talked to animals and trees, and who shared secrets with the wind. Over the years, she lived a fascinating life, though in her later years, she slipped gradually into a near-delusional condition. She was treated in a hospital in England in which she spent the remainder of her life.

This is her story as she “escapes” back to a happier time in her childhood in order to endure her hospitalization and treatments.
