Michael B. Poliakoff, PhD, is President and CEO of the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) and a professor of Classics. He has taught classical studies at Georgetown University, George Mason University, George Washington University and Wellesley College and is the founding professor of the Hillsdale College Department of Classics.
He served as Pennsylvania Deputy Secretary of Education, NEH Director of Education Programs, and Vice President at the University of Colorado. Dr. Poliakoff received the American Philological Association’s Excellence in Teaching Award and the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Distinguished Service to Education Award. His publications include Combat Sport in the Ancient World: Competition, Violence and Culture and many articles on classical studies and education policy.
