Adversity can raise many questions for Christians. Whether physical, psychological, or medical, the trials of life that are experienced daily are spiritually challenging. Yet, there is hope and it is possible to flourish—even with suffering and chronic illness.
When Life Hurts is written to help lead the wounded toward healing, the discouraged toward renewed faith, and the suffering toward the unshakable assurance that Christ walks with His people through every trial. God understands our pain and has not abandoned us.
Building upon a lifetime of ministry as a professor, pastor, and military chaplain, Dr. Leroy Gilbert provides a framework for understanding pain, illness, suffering, and trauma from a perspective of Renewal Theology. He understands and carries within himself and others, the words of which he writes. This is a work to provide help for those who minister and hope for those who struggle.
