Two wars, two veterans, and the women who loved them—every person fights their own battles. Sometimes they do so physically, sometimes emotionally, sometimes medically, sometimes relationally, sometimes spiritually, and for some, all of the these.
Over the course of our lives, we cross paths with many people. Two veterans, one a survivor of the beaches of Normandy and the other a survivor of the jungles of Vietnam, meet in a downtown gospel mission and share their stories of love and loss. In doing so, they also find a shared story of family, forgiveness, and acceptance.

Bill Sanner is an author, musician, and veteran whose words and music have inspired readers and audiences across the country. He has written more than a hundred songs and continues to compose, arrange, and record original music for concert bands. He won the 2016 “Author of the Year Award” from the Artists Music Guild for his autobiography The Sub-Par Adventures of Snakebite and Stonefinger of his years as a submariner in the US Navy.
